Anantnag, Nov 27: The residents of Shangus area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district have alleged that the power development department is supplying them unscheduled power due to which locals are suffering.
Locals on Saturday staged a protest against the department and blocked traffic in main chowk Shangus.
Protestors said that their area isn’t even getting power supply as per the winter schedule which was announced earlier.
They said that they are hardly getting power supply for a few hours since the last several days due to which they are suffering in bone chilling winter.
“Unscheduled and frequent power cuts have been persistent in the entire area since last two weeks but there is no body to take cognizance of the issue,” said Nadeem Ahmad, a local.
“Since November beginning the power development department has failed to ensure proper power supply as per their curtailment schedule which affects the residents quite badly,” he added
“The power development department had failed to ensure proper power supply as per their curtailment schedule which affects residents as well businessmen and industrialists,” said another local
“We took up the issue with authorities who are assuring us of improvement in the power schedule, but on ground nothing happens,” protests said.
Protesters concerned higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
