Ganderbal, Nov 27: The wildlife department seems little interested in hosting migratory guest birds for the fourth consecutive year at one of the largest wetland Shallbug in Ganderbal district.
The department’s negligence in erecting embankments to retain water is the major reason of disappointment for the guest birds as they cannot find accommodation at the right time and fly to other places even outside the valley.
“Every year wildlife department’s delay in erecting embankments to retain water, becomes the main reason that this wetland remains dry and deserted during the arrival of winged visitors,” sources said.
The delay becomes major reason for decline in arrival of these guest birds and disappointment for bird lovers who come to watch these birds from different places of country.
Meanwhile, wildlife officials have assured that the embankment will be erected within a week’s time.
Ghulam Hassan, a forester in the wildlife department said that water level is low nowadays and they are trying our best to solve this problem.
He also assured us that within a week when water level will increase they will repair the embankments which are in a bad condition.
