Srinagar, Dec 1: A traffic policeman was on Wednesday evening injured after suspected militants opened fire in Rajouri Kadal area of Srinagar.
Official sources said that the militants fired upon a man in blue identified as Muhammad Abdullah in Rajouri Kadal when he was performing his duty in the evening.
Abdullah was rushed to SMHS hospital here where he is undergoing treatment.
An official in the hospital said that the injured is being operated upon, adding that he has received three bullets in his arm and cheek.
Meanwhile, police in a tweet said that the area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.
“#Militants fired upon & #injured a traffic police personnel who was busy in regulating traffic at Rajouri Kadal, #Srinagar. He has been shifted to hospital. Area has been #cordoned off. Further details shall follow,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.
Medical Superintendent SMHS hospital Dr Kanwaljeet Singh said that the injured has received three bullets and is being treated.
