Srinagar, Dec 3: Human lives aren’t for sale and those who will be found involved in it will face strict action, Mission Director Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) Shabnam Kamili said on Friday.
Talking to media men at B.ed College MA Road, Srinagar, Kamili said that the process of investigation of media reports alleging sale of Covid orphans has already started as FIR has been lodged, office of the NGO sealed, and two persons arrested while further investigation is going on.
“Soon after the media reports came to fore, we have taken steps for the safety of those orphans who are registered with ICPS. There are presently 635 Covid orphans registered with ICPS,” she said.
She said that all NGO’s working here must get themselves registered with ICPS, otherwise they will get penalized.
“The NGO which is allegedly involved in the sale of Covid orphans wasn’t registered with ICPS,” Kamili said. She said that it is the responsibility of society to keep check on such issues as if someone is selling, someone is purchasing and an NGO is working as a broker in the middle. “If someone is missing, there should have been at least a missing report in the concerned police station or ICPS. We all should wake up to this and ensure that human lives aren’t for sale,” she said.
She said that there will definitely be an action against the involved persons and all NGO’s must get registered. “This message must be passed to religious seminaries so that such issues won’t come to fore,” Kamili said.
