Srinagar, Dec 6: Jammu and Kashmir police along with security forces have arrested an active militant along with an associate in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police said.
A police spokesman said that acting on specific input regarding presence of militant in Ningli area of Sopore, a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched by Police, 52RR and 177Bn CRPF in the said area.
During the search operation, the militant and his associate were challenged by the search party, however, they tried to escape from the spot but the alert search party apprehended them tactfully.
The active militant has been identified as Towfeeq Kaboo, son of Ghulam Rasool Kaboo of Kaboo Mohalla Arampora Sopore while as a militant associate has been identified as Bilal Ahmad Kaloo, son of Abdul Rahman Kaloo of Takiabal Sopore.
In this regard, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation has been taken up, a police spokesman said.
