Jammu, Dec 7: Asking BJP led government to stop spreading hatred by pitching people against people on religious lines, National Conference chief Dr Farooq Abdullah Tuesday said that his father Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah had acceded to “Gandhi’s India not Godse’s” India and situation will continue to remain grime in J&K unless what has been snatch is restored with dignity.
He also said that BJP leaders at the Centre should stop beating drums about tourism in Kashmir and stated that “one bullet on a tourist can bring tourism to zero.”
Addressing a gathering at Jammu, the NC chief said that he gives damn to those elections where parties pitch one community against another for political gains. “We had acceded to Gandhi’s India and not Godse’s India. Let me tell them (BJP leaders) that the situation will remain grim in Kashmir until what has been snatched from us on August 4, 2019, is restored with dignity,” he said.
Dr Farooq said that if BJP is serious in bringing happiness on the faces of people of J&K, “all rights snatched have to be restored sooner the better.”
The NC chief said that “NC leaders have not picked up guns nor indulged in stone pelting” as the party believes in fighting battles politically in a Gandhian way. “We will fight peacefully till our rights are restored with honour,” he said.
The NC leader said that he was hopeful that a Mesiah will come and pull people of J&K out of the prevailing mess the way “Moses saved his people and nation from the clutches of Feraon.”
He said the slogan raised by the Prime Minister Narendera Modi that he was to remove “Dil ki doori and Dili Ki doori khatam kareingay” should be implemented on ground. “What happened to this slogan? I don’t see any progress on this,” Dr Farooq said.
He said it was unfortunate to see Punjab going Nagaland way. “I want to ask BJP leaders why the 50 km stretch has been handed over to BSF in Punjab,” the NC chief asked.
He said on the other hand poverty is touching the sky as evident from the fact that people in Uttar Pradesh were seen taking oil from Diwali lamps to cook food. He also alleged that in banks across J&K UT, people from Punjab and Haryana are being provided jobs.
The NC chief also questioned the government’s move of closing the age-old practice of Durbar Move.
“The Durbar Move practice wasn’t any favour to neither Kashmir nor Jammu but a practice started by the then Maharaja Hari Singh to keep different cultures together,” he said. He said the Centre should stop the tourism rant. “If one bullet will hit any tourist, entire tourism will crumble,” Dr Farooq said.
