Srinagar, Dec 14: At least five persons including four women were killed while two others were injured after a vehicle they were traveling in met with an accident at Rajgarh area of Ramban district on Tuesday.
Officials said that an accident took place after a tempo bearing registration number JK06-2675 plunged into a deep gorge near Chuchater area of Rajgarh.
The four females traveling in the vehicle identified as Rahila Bano, daughter of Mushtaq Ahmad, Rubeena Begum, wife of Javeed Ahmad, Amina Begum, wife of Abdul Rehman and Asia Bano, daughter of Ibrahim Ahmad died on the spot, they said.
They further informed that three others traveling in the vehicle were seriously wounded while one among them identified as Sajad Ahmad, 22, son of Abdul Hamid Wani of Chaka succumbed to his injuries at PHC Rajgarh.
Two other injured persons identified as Muhammad Yasin, son of Muhammad Mushtaq and Khalid, son of Muhammad Iqbal have been shifted to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment, the officials said.
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha expressed anguish over the loss of lives in the accident and prayed for early recovery of the injured.
“Deeply anguished to learn about the loss of lives in a tragic road accident in Rajgarh, Ramban. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families. Praying for the early recovery of the injured,” Office of J&K LG tweeted.
LG has also said that he is monitoring the situation and every possible assistance will be extended to the victims.
He also directed the district administration to provide immediate relief to NoKs of the deceased.
