Acute water scarcity hits Aloosa village, residents suffer

Bandipora, Dec 25: The residents of Manzpora village of Aloosa Tehsil in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district are facing acute shortage of drinking water for three months.
While complaining about the issue the residents said, that the authorities in the Jal-Shakti department are pushing them to face hardships in these bone chilling days as they are not receiving regular supply of drinking water.
Accusing the concerned officials for ignoring their plights, the residents have demanded immediate redressal of their grievances.
The residents said that they are facing immense hardships due to the acute shortage of water supply from the last three months, which is making their life difficult.
Ali Mohammad, an elderly local, said that the water which they have been drinking from the last three months fetched from streams is muddy and unsafe.
“Our children often fall ill by drinking unsafe and mud-filled water,” he said, adding that it seems our pleas are falling on deaf ears.
Locals said that if their grievances would not be redressed they would launch an agitation against the concerned department.
Meanwhile, an official from the Jal-Shakti department assured timely action.
