Keep Kashmir connected

The congested roads in Srinagar are being further blocked, leaving no way for the commuters and pedestrians. However, there seems to be no action by the concerned authorities in this regard and no action has been taken against such happenings with the concerned officials acting as mute spectators. The pedestrians as well as the commuters continue to complain about the less space available for them on the roads as the most of the space is being occupied by the street vendors, who are illegally occupying the roadsides from the past several years and are not being removed to ensure adequate space for the commuters and the pedestrians. Although the government has been providing space to the street vendors to remove them from the roadsides, there seems no end to the sufferings of the common people as the street vendors are increasing with each passing day, thus occupying more and more roadsides. The concerned authorities launched a drive against the street vendors from time to time, but failed to remove their carts completely as the drives never continued till the goal was achieved, but remained either a day-long show or ended up in a tussle between the officials and the street vendors. One fails to understand when the people, especially the commuters are going to heave a sigh of relief while passing through these congested roads. There is a need to shift the street vendors to the designated places at the shortest possible time so that the roadsides occupied by them would be kept for the pedestrians.
