Srinagar, Feb 2: The Ministry of Home Affairs Wednesday informed the parliament that an amount of rupees 30,371.14 crores have been provided to the Union Territory of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir for completion of 159,371 projects/ works since 2019.
The Home Ministry was replying to the queries raised in the ongoing session of parliament.
The queries raised in the parliament include, how many new projects have been initiated in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh since 2019 besides the funds allocated for such projects.
The Minister of State (MoS) in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Nityananad Rai responded to the queries in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
In a written reply, the MoS said that as per the information provided by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) and Government of Ladakh, 141815 and 17556 new works/ projects have been taken up under various sectors/schemes in J&K and Ladakh respectively since 2019.
The Union Minister informed that funds amounting to Rs. 27274.00 crores and Rs. 3097.14 crores have been provided for completion of these works/projects in the UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh respectively.
“Funds amounting to Rs. 19142.63 crores and Rs.1810.97 crores have been earmarked in the UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh respectively for areas predominantly inhabited by rural population,” the MoS said in the written reply.
