Ganderbal, Feb 28: Residents of Yangoora Malpura, Potermol village in Ganderbal district of central Kashmir have expressed dissatisfaction with the Jal Shakti Department, saying that drinking water has not been available in their area for the last 15 days.
The locals say that they have not been getting a water supply for the last 15 days. “We have approached the concerned department several times but it all turned out to be useless,” they said.
They said that they were assured of an immediate supply of water but no action has been taken by them so far.
Local villagers also said that “the administration has failed to provide basic amenities to the residents”.
“Villages facing severe water shortage include Malpura, Pottermol and adjoining areas,” they said.
They said that there was no water supply facility in the area due to which they were suffering but no attention was being paid to them. “They were forced to drink contaminated water due to a lack of drinking water.”
Locals appeal to higher authorities to look into the matter as soon as possible so that they could breathe a sigh of relief. (KNO)
