Budgam, Mar 1: The locals from different areas of the Narbal area blocked the Srinagar-Gulmarg Road against the failure of Power Development Department in providing them high-capacity transformers.
The protesters mostly from Astan Mohalla Kawoosa area of Narbal disrupted traffic to attract the attention of the authorities.
The protesters complained that they are facing an erratic power supply for the past several months due to which the people face hardships. “The low-capacity transformer installed in our area is causing frequent power outages. We had demanded that a high-capacity transformer be installed, but our pleas had gone to deaf ears,” the protesters said.
The protesters demanded the installation of a new transformer to overcome the problem of overloading and unscheduled power cuts.
Police and some officials from PDD rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters with the assurance that the grievance will be addressed at the earliest. (KNT)
