As the aggression between the two countries—Russia and Ukraine—continued from the past couple of weeks, a huge chunk of people belonging to different countries are stuck in Ukraine and thus simultaneously their lives are at huge risk. However, people especially students from Jammu and Kashmir too are stranded there, who are finding it hard to find a place where there is no threat to their lives. In such a scenario, the Government of India (GoI) has started the evacuation process and has evacuated nearly 1000 people including two Jammu and Kashmir residents from the country safely. Moreover, there are disturbing reports coming to the fore, claiming death of two Indians in the aggression in two consecutive days, thus indicating a threat to the lives of civilians, belonging to different places including India. Amid such a scenario, the Vice President of India, VP Naidu has exuded confidence that all the Indian citizens stuck in Ukraine will be evacuated safely. Nonetheless, there are reports surfacing on the social media, claiming that no support is being provided to the Indian populace stuck in Ukraine and many of stranded people have managed to come out of the war zone on their own. Amid these disturbing reports, the government back in Jammu and Kashmir should raise the issue with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) at earliest and ensure that the stranded people from the Union Territory are evacuated safely at an earliest.
