Keep roadsides clean

The Srinagar City has once again turned out to be messy at most of the places as the lack of public support as well as the official apathy has resulted in heaps of garbage at several places, despite the allotment of dustbins there. It has been observed that the people despite having the availability of dustbins are throwing their garbage in the open, which not only is a risk for their health but is painting a grim picture of the civic sense among the people as well. Despite claiming high and tall with regard to the cleanliness of Srinagar City, there has been no end to the garbage on the roadsides as the concerned authorities don’t even bother to ensure that the garbage is thrown in dustbins only. One fails to understand the need for allotting the dustbin when people are seemingly reluctant to throw their garbage into it. There is a need to understand the consequences of throwing the garbage in the open. The garbage that could be seen piling up at the roadsides at a few places, is not adding to the number of stray dogs, but is affecting the health of the people to a large extent. The people as well as the concerned agencies should cooperate with each other and ensure that no such happening takes place in the future and the roadsides are kept clean to ensure a healthy society on the ground.
