The hospitals are being provided adequate equipments and other related things in Jammu and Kashmir with an aim to ensure better patient care at these institutions. However, some of the events being witnessed at hospitals here are indicating lack of basic facilities, which has simultaneously led to the sufferings of people visiting these hospitals for treatment. Similarly, at Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial (JLNM) hospital here in Srinagar, one has to wait for hours to get an Out-Patient Department (OPD) ticket or even mention the date on the tickets. One could easily imagine the sufferings of patients when huge queues are being witnessed at the OPD counters at the particular hospital. Such is the height that even the pregnant ladies too are being forced to wait in the large queues, thus leaving them to lurch at large. One fails to understand why the appropriate steps are not being taken well on time to put an end to the sufferings of these patients as well as the attendants. Although four counters have been established to bring a respite to the people, but, the huge rush of the patients cannot be tackled easily and thus the need of more two or three counters is must at this juncture. There is a need to put an immediate end to the sufferings of patients and thus the concerned authorities need to take necessary steps so that the people here could heave a sigh of relief.
