Kupwara, Apr 5: The Government Higher Secondary School, Teetwal in Karnah area of Kupwara district lacks basic infrastructure and facilities like drinking water and toilets, due to which the students and teachers are facing immense hardships.
“In the absence of adequate classrooms, most of the classes are being held in the open. There is no staff room, store and playground. At times, classes are called off when it rains and also during scorching heat,” students complained.
They said that they are facing immense hardships due to the non-availability of basic facilities in the school. “From past several years, the problems in the school were ignored. Thus, simultaneously leave students as well as the teachers to suffer,” the aggrieved students said.
Sabreena Nabi, a student said: “Besides the school is also facing shortage of teaching staff while many parents have either withdrawn their wards from this school and admitted them some other schools for their betterment.”
The locals of the area said that they have in the past apprised the concerned authorities about the issue but nothing has been done so far.
Meanwhile, officials said that some due grievances of students have already been addressed by the administration while the other are being met.
