Avalanches: Curb public movement

The children’s hospital—G B Pant, in Sonwar area of Srinagar is already witnessing a huge flow of patients on a regular basis, but the number of attendants who come along with the patients is adding to the miseries of the doctors as well the staff. A video that surfaced on social media a couple of days back, shared by a senior lady journalist, has exposed the unfavourable atmosphere to the doctors for treating the little patients. It is clearly visible how the hospital is fully jam-packed and thus simultaneously indicates the sufferings of doctors to treat the patients and also the staff to manage the situation. It seems that the hospital administration has failed to ensure only a limited number of attendants along with the patients as the video clearly reveals how the hospital resembled an overloaded passenger bus. Such a situation is not only depriving the patients of better treatment, but also puts the health of the doctors, paramedics and other staff at risk amid the ongoing pandemic. One fails to understand why the attendants in large numbers are being allowed to enter the premises of the hospital. There should be a strict measure in place to ensure that only limited attendants are allowed to accompany the patient so that the health of doctors and other staff are not put at risk. The hospital administration should understand that the staff as well as the doctors are dealing with the huge flow of patients every day, therefore, it becomes imperative to take care of their health, which would also help in ensuring better patient care at the hospital.
