Srinagar, 17 June: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Friday expressed anguish over the massive damages to standing crops and property across south, central and north Kashmir due massive hailstorm and asked the divisional administration to reach out to those affected with adequate compensation.
Expressing concern over the losses incurred by people in district Kulgam Party state secretary and Senior leader Sakina Itoo said, “Gusty winds, hailstorm cloud burst and heavy rains have caused massive damage across various pockets in district Kulgam especially in the upper reaches. Besides despoiling standing crops , the hailstorm has damaged several houses at various places. Landslides at various places have also damaged a number of vehicles across the district.”
She said the sheer degree of damage to standing crops, livestock and private properties makes it imperative for government agencies to come to the rescue of those affected. “I urge the district and divisional administration to depute revenue teams to assess the losses to people so that the amount of compensation is worked out and distributed forthwith as well,” she said.
North Zone President Javed Dar also expressed grief over the wide scale damage to standing crops in Rafiabad area following massive hailstorms in the area. He asked the administration to reach out to affected farmers and households with timely and adequate relief.
