Anantnag, Jun 27: A vital road in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district is incomplete for past four years now due to which locals have been suffering.
Locals from Zamalgam and its adjacent area in Anantnag district said that that Watnard-Zamalgam road was approved in year 2018 and its work was allotted to Khanday infrastructure company besides that road was to be constructed at a cost of around Rs 10 crore.
They said that in year 2018, work on the road was started but due to unknown reasons it has been put on halt since last four years now due to which thousands of people are suffering.
They further added that so far just 30 percent work has been done while 70 percent work is complete but no attention is being given towards it
Presently authorities are claiming that they are waiting for no objection certificate from Forest department but how they started work then without it, they said.
Department has already received NOC but due to unknown reasons, they are resorting to dilly dally tactics due to which people are suffering, they said.
We have brought this issue in notice of higher ups several times but to no avail, they said.
They requested higher ups especially DC Anantnag to look into matter and direct concerned authorities to resume work on it so that it can be completed at an earliest so that locals won’t suffer anymore.
Meanwhile an official of the concerned department said that due to pending NOC from forest department and compensation claims by some locals, the project has been delayed.
However, he assured that they are working on it and very soon road will be completed.
