Handwara, Jul 14: The failure of Public Health Engineering department in plugging leakages in the pipeline supplying water to the Qaziabad area of Handwara has led to the acute drinking water shortage in the entire Sopernaghama and its adjoining areas.
Residents of Kralgund and Sopernaghama while expressing resentment said that they are facing a tough time due to the water crisis which is mainly due to the unchecked leakage of water from damaged water pipes.
They also added that the damaged water pipes are causing water scarcity in town which has badly affected the people. People said in village Ganapora main pipeline has got damaged while PHE department never tried to repair it despite repeated requests.
“We don’t know why the employees are not repairing the damaged pipes despite being requested to do so repeatedly. Where will we go and whom to approach now,” they said.
They appealed to Chief Engineer and DC Kupwara to look into the matter. (KNT)
