High-level committee to devise roadmap for ODOP initiative

Srinagar, Jul 14: The Union Territory Level Bankers Committee (UTLBC) has decided to constitute a committee to come up with an actionable export/ financial roadmap for “One District, One Product” scheme.
According to the record note of 7th Union Territory Level Bankers Committee (UTLBC), the panel has decided to set-up a committee to devise an actionable export/ financial roadmap for the initiative.
The committee would comprise of Financial Commissioner, Agriculture Production Department, Financial Commissioner, Industries & Commerce Department, Regional Director Reserve Bank of India and General Manager, J&K UTLBC.
According to the record note, the CS observed that there has been no significant movement in implementation of ODOP scheme in J&K. He also expressed the need to quicken the pace of the implementation of ODOP.
In the 5th UTLBC, the Chief Secretary directed Punjab National Bank to take lead in preparing the Plan under ODOP Programme.
The ‘One District, One Product’ (ODOP) is an initiative to help districts reach their full potential, foster economic and socio-cultural growth, and create employment opportunities, especially in rural areas. It aims to do this by identifying, promoting and branding a product from one district.
It is pertinent to mention that the agricultural and industrial products for each district have been already identified by the Jammu & Kashmir Government.
