Kashmir has been famous for its culture, tradition, nature and especially the work done by the Sufi saints. The valley is known as the land of Sufi saints and their teachings can never be forgotten. However, the social crimes are painting a grim picture of Kashmir where gambling, robbery and other crimes are increasing. Jammu and Kashmir police has been frequently issuing statements with regard to the arrests made by them, which shows that some people for their vested interests are hell-bent to tarnish the image of Kashmir and also overburden the work of law enforcement agencies. Yesterday, at least 10 gamblers were arrested and huge stake money was recovered from their possession, police had said. It is not for the first time that such crimes have taken place, but in the past as well, the police has been doing tremendous job in putting an end to such crimes and in this regard have arrested a number of people along with the stake money. But, J&K police cannot be blamed for not putting an end to such social crimes, as the people in general and the religious clerics in particular need to extend their support to deal with such criminals. It stands the responsibility of one and all to come forward in this regard and help in curbing such crimes on the ground, which would not only ease the workload of police, but also give respite to the people on the ground, who face robbery and other incidents in day-to-day life.
