Srinagar, Jul 19: A youth from Srinagar who is now an expert in Hijama or cupping therapy is making attempts to reintroduce prophetic medicine for treating people suffering from different ailments.
The therapy which is a Sunnah recommended by the Prophet (SAW) is used for better circulation of blood and detoxifies the body.
Basit Bashir, a youth from Srinagar has received cupping training from ‘Cupcare Training Institute’ Mumbai a few years after which he subsequently joined Rajasthan Jodhpur in Acupressure, acupuncture and cupping therapy for two years following which he opened his own ISO certified clinic at Pandach crossing on the outskirts Srinagar where he is treating hundreds of patients with different aliments.
He said that he could have joined the family business but witnessing the rise of depression cases in Kashmir, he decided to open a Hijama clinic.
“So far thousands of patients have visited my clinic and over 97 percent of patients have recovered very well,” he said.
Basit who is also specialist in acupuncture and Chiropractic with diverse range of experiences is presently organizing free Hijama camps.
“My aim behind organising free Hijama camps is just to create awareness so that people will use traditional remedies to treat different ailments with no side effects,” he said.
Ailments like chronic pain and migraines, immune enhancement, disease prevention, anxiety, depression, health maintenance and various ailments can be treated by cupping therapy, he said.
Basit said that with unemployment increasing rapidly in Kashmir, youth can easily get training in this field and make a career out of it.
Notably Hijama or cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction.
