In yet another instance of goodwill gesture, a local Non Government Organization (NGO) has organized a Nikkah ceremony of over 50 couples in Srinagar. It is not for the first time that the organization has taken such a step, but from time to time, several members of the NGO work hard to ensure that all those who are in need get married by providing them all the assistance. From organizing Wazwan to holding Nikkah functions, this NGO has set an example across the globe that the deserving and needy must not be pushed to the wall. By organizing such applauding functions, the NGO is helping the society to come out of the rituals, customs and dowry related issues, which has affected the society badly and also lead to the rise in the number of unmarried youth in Jammu and Kashmir. One fails to understand why the local Baitulmaals and other committees fail to take such initiatives to help the poor and needy persons to get married well on time. The NGO has created an example, but at the same time, it has paved a way for all the persons in every locality to go ahead with such initiatives and help the deserving lot from their respective areas. It is the time when all the locality heads should consider taking forward the mission, which is not only the need of the hour but also the religious obligation. Taking forward the mission would certainly help in pulling J&K down in the recently publicized list wherein the Union Territory is at the top.
