Govt constitutes committee on Dam Safety

Srinagar, Jul 26: Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday constituted UT Committee on Dam Safety and UT Dam Safety Organization in terms of Dam Safety Act 2021.
As per order issued by Principal Secretary to the government, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Executive Engineer Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (J&KPDC) will be chairman of UT committee on Dam safety while as Superintending Engineer Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation will be chairman of UT Dam Safety organization.
As per order the members of UT committee on Dam Safety include Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control, Jammu, Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control, Kashmir, Chief Engineer, Design Inspection Quality Control, Chief Engineer, Bhaglihar, Chief Engineer, National Hydro-electric Power Member Corporation, Chief Engineer, Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited, Representative from Himachal Pradesh Government (not below the rank of Chief Engineer to be nominated by the Government of Member Himachal Pradesh), Representative from Central Water Commission, Representative from Central Engineering Board, Representative from NIT Srinagar and Representative from IIT Jammu.
The order said that the members of UT Dam Safety Organization include Superintending Engineer, National Hydro-Member electric Power Corporation, Superintending Engineer, Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited, Superintending Engineer Hydraulic, Doda, Superintending Engineer Hydraulic, Baramulla and Director Monitoring and Appraisal Central Water Commission Jammu.
As per order these bodies shall function in terms of mandate provided in the Dam Safety Act, 2021.
