Why no adherence to Covid guidelines

The non-adherence to the Covid related guidelines in Srinagar and elsewhere is something that would certainly land the people in trouble in Jammu and Kashmir. The respective district administration have made the wearing of face masks mandatory in Jammu and Kashmir, but only a few could be seen adhering to the guidelines while most of the people on the roads continue to risk their and others lives, which is a cause of concern. It seems that the orders have been issued to keep it confined in the papers only while no such drive has been launched anywhere so far to ensure the implementation of the order in letter and spirit. It is unfortunate that even the government employees in the offices don’t wear face masks, thus simultaneously could increase the number of daily Covid-19 cases. One fails to understand why the orders have been issued when the authorities were not serious in combating the virus. With no adherence to the guidelines, the daily cases have now risen to over 700 while Srinagar alone records over 250 cases on a regular basis. The time calls for immediate and necessary steps in this regard as the situation should be prevented from turning disastrous. The previous situations should be prevented in the future for which ensuring implementation of the Covid related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) is the need of the hour. Besides, the general public must follow the guideline in spirit to cooperate in combating the virus.
