Dozens of drives launched so far from time to time to clean the world famous Dal Lake here in Srinagar have failed to yield any results, but look at the Khushal Sar Lake where civil society vowed to make progress has breathed yet again, which indicates that the seriousness in making changes on the ground is imperative for any action. A look at Dal Lake is pointing towards the non-serious attitude by the concerned authorities with regard to its cleaning. There are people who would continue to raise queries about the changes made in Khushal Sar and the deteriorating situation of Dal Lake, despite spending a hefty amount on its cleaning process. In a short span of time, a civil society with the support of the government changed the deteriorating condition of Khushal Sar Lake and helped it to breathe again, but one fails to understand why the people at the helm of affairs have in the past few decades failed to bring desired changes in Dal Lake. Although, the cleaning drive is yet again going on in world famous Dal Lake, but until and unless the concerned authorities would not ensure seriousness, the situation is never going to change. The ongoing drive has to be culminated only after the visible changes are brought in Dal Lake and also the administration led by the Lieutenant Governor should set a target vis-a-vis completing the drive so that the steps are taken in the right direction and the goal is achieved without any further delay.
