Ganderbal, Aug 31: A 35-year-old teacher from central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district has bagged Asian Education Award in the category of Best Teacher of the Year 2022.
Zakir Hussain, son of Gh Hussain of Kangan was awarded Asian Education Award in the category of Best Teacher of the Year 2022 for “transformed the life chances” of students of his school and as well as the aspirants, who were preparing for the civil service examination at Jammu and Kashmir.
Initially, Zakir appeared in various Competitive exams which he could not crack, following which he chose to go into the education sector with an aim to serve and provide quality education to children at Government run schools.
Currently, Zakir is working as a General Line teacher in Government Higher Secondary School at Batwina in District Ganderbal.
Zakir played a pivotal role during the pandemic which affected the education sector badly. Students remained away from offline classes for almost two years. He introduced digital learning tools and came up with personalized programmes for each student besides conducting online classes in which almost fifty thousand students were connected.
His tireless work in the education sector was recognized and he was nominated for the prestigious award.
To continue service towards the education sector, Zakir has published a book titled “The Secret of Goal setting to Success” which will be beneficial to all students from the age group of 13 years to aspirants preparing for competitive examinations.
Besides, Zakir has also published a book titled “Modern History of India”, which benefits the aspirants appearing in Public Service Exams.
Zakir in a message to teachers working in Government schools has suggested adopting western model of teaching with innovative techniques like Delhi model schools.
However, Zakir said that average teachers in Government run schools are highly qualified and some of them are using innovative techniques in teaching.
Since the students pursuing education in Government schools belong mostly from poor families who can’t afford education in private institutions, so these students need teachers like Zakir Hussain to secure their future by providing quality education to them, the students said.
