Srinagar, Sep 10: Government to Saturday said that it was “moral responsibility” on part of its all employees to work towards eradication of drug menace while it asked them to participate in “pledge ceremonies” to be organized across all offices of different departments, boards, organizations and agencies against it.
“Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan involving multilevel approach and encompassing various departments and offices as well as public representatives is being organized across the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” reads a circular issued here. The exercise is an earnest effort to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving the goal of a substance abuse free Jammu and Kashmir, it said.
“The region is facing the menace of drug abuse which has a devastating impact on the addict, individual, family and the society at large.”
As a part of the ongoing abhiyaan, different activities have been prescribed in terms of instructions notified on 03 September. “However, with a view to expand the outreach of the abhiyaan to every nook and corner, it is imperative that every individual including all employees of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir participate in the abhiyaan as a moral responsibility and work towards eradication of the menace of drug abuse,” the circular, a copy of which lies with GNS, reads.
As an endeavour in this direction, the government said it has been desired that all employees of Government of Jammu and Kashmir shall participate in pledge ceremonies to be organized across all Government offices of different departments, boards, organizations and agencies.
“All employees shall participate in the noble cause and vow to fight the menace individually as well as collectively as a part of the society, to protect our future generations from the perils of drug abuse,” the government said, adding, “The Government of India has also enabled a web-link for the online pledge against the drug abuse which is live as Mv.in/fightaEainstdrugabuse/.”
Accordingly, all Administrative Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, Heads of Depadments and Deputy Commissioners have been to ensure participation of all employees working under their respective control in pledge taking ceremonies which shall be organized in their offices besides other such similar ceremonies during the course of the abhiyaan. “Further, it may be also ensured that all employees register their pledges on the web portal of Government of India.” (GNS)
