Srinagar, Sep 13: Young BJP leader and DDC member from Khonmoh area of Srinagar Er Aijaz Hussain Tuesday toured Lasjan area of Srinagar and met various public delegations of the area who apprised him of various day to issues besides need for setting up a sub-way and an under pass to prevent accident and to get hassle-free access to their orchards, farmland.
In a statement, Er Aijaz said that he visited Lasjan area and after meeting people he felt that the area despite being close to national highway and important Pantha Chowk by-pass, there is no doubt that all the previous regimes neglected it for the past over seven decades. “Roads, drainage, electric wiring, poles, drinking water facility of the Lasjan area paints a grim picture of a deliberate neglect by the previous regimes, reasons best known to them,” he said, adding that he visited Soiteng, and other interior areas of Lasjan and felt that people were craving for better roads, proper drainage system and clean drinking water supply.
Er Aijaz said that he assured the locals of Lasjan that he will ensure all their basic needs are redressed within a stipulated time frame and that the government of J&K was committed to provide governance at door steps of people. Locals of Lasjan, Soiteng and adjacent areas hailed Er Aijaz for reaching out to them from time to time.
A delegation of locals including elderly and youth from Lasjan met Er Aijaz and explained him about the need of a sub-way so that they can reach to their paddy fields and orchards easily. They also demanded an under-pass so that they can get connected to the highway easily and their children can go to their schools without wasting much time.
Er Aijaz, while acknowledging their genuine demand, urged the National Highway Authority of India to consider construction of an under-pass in the Lasjan area in the larger public interest. He also assured the delegation of youth that the area will have a quality playground and other sports facilities soon.
The locals of the area also demanded night staff for the Primary Health Centre Lasjan to which Er Aijaz spoke to Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Mushtaq Ahmed, who assured him that medical staff for night duty at PHC Lasjan will be provided within a few days.
