Shop sealed for selling expired food items at Saida Kadal

Srinagar, Sep 19: On the basis of a complaint received from a Municipal Corporator the expired food items were being sold in a shop at Saida Kadal Srinagar, a joint team comprising officers of Food Safety, Police and Municipality inspected the said shop and found the complaint based on facts.
Taking strong cognizance of the complaint, the concerned Food Safety Officer seized food items worth Rs. 10000 and lifted two samples for laboratory analysis.
The shop was instantly sealed for further investigation. Meanwhile, all food business operators have being directed not to sell any food article whose best before date has elapsed otherwise action under relevant provisions of Food Safety and Standards Act shall be initiated against them.
