Kupwara, Sep 23: Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, who is also Mentor Secretary for Kupwara, Friday visited Kupwara to inspect development projects being executed in the district besides assessing working of various government institutions there.
Principal Secretary was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray and other concerned officers during the visit.
Principal Secretary inspected High Density Orchard cum Nursery at Chowgul. He visited various segments of the nursery and received feedback from Chief Horticulture Officer regarding different varieties of fruits being grown there. He directed him to create proper awareness regarding high yielding apple varieties among the farmers so that they can boost their income generation.
At Panchayat halqa Gulgam-C, Principal Secretary inaugurated Konidogur Sar in presence of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara. He was informed that the Sar has been constructed at a cost of Rs.8.36 lakh under 14th FC in convergence with MGNREGA by Rural Development Department.
ACD Kupwara, BDO and other concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
Principal Secretary also inspected ongoing macadamization work on Khumriyal CRF road and directed the concerned engineers to ensure completion of all macadamization works in the district before onset of winter season.
Dr. Samoon visited ITI Lalpora and inspected functioning of the institute.
Vice Chairman DDC Kupwara, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir and Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray accompanied the Principal Secretary.
Principal Secretary inspected status of all trades of the Institute during which the Superintendent ITI briefed him about various courses being run there including Electrician, Computer Course, COPA etc.
He directed the concerned officers for introduction of latest trades in the ITIs to keep the candidates abreast with the latest industry specific demands.
