Kupwara, Oct 11: A 40-year-old man was killed Tuesday when a sand cave that he and other labourers were digging collapsed on to him, authorities said.
They said some labourers were tunnelling into the side of a sand dune in Sheikhnar Kralgund area of Handwara, when the sand caved in. The labourer identified as Muhammad Sultan Sheikh, son of Ghulam Ahmed, a resident of Sheikhnar Kralgund village was taken out from sand and shifted to CHC Kralgund where doctors declared him brought dead.
A police official while confirming the death of a man said that a case has been registered under relevant sections of law.
This was the second incident of this nature. Last month a labourer died in Rangpath forest area of Handwara while digging sand. (KNT)
