Police bust gang of bike, mobile thieves

Srinagar, Oct 13: Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday claimed to have busted a gang of bike and mobile thieves by arresting five persons in Srinagar.
A police spokesman in a statement said that a written complaint was received by Police Post Banmohalla from one Owais Amin Najar, son of Mohammad Amin Najar of Shahwari Srinagar regarding theft of his vehicle.
Upon this, a case under FIR number 50/2022 under section 379 IPC was registered in PS MR Gunj pertaining to the theft of one vehicle bearing registration number JK05B-2105, the statement said.
During the investigation of the instant case and technical assistance received from north police lab, five suspects were picked up for questioning by PP Banmohlla.
During sustained questioning alongwith SHO MR Gunj, they disclosed their involvement in the said case and many other theft cases, the statement said.
Arsalan Mushtaq Wandroo, son of Late Mushtaq Ahmad of Puj Mohallah Rainawari, Momin Bilal Bhat, son of Bilal Ahmad Bhat of Khaniyar, Mehran Shafi Bhat, son of Mohd Shafi Bhat of Mir Masjid Khaniyar, Rameez Showkat Matoo, son of Showkat Ahmad Matoo of Hazari bazar Rinawari and Nadeem Ahmad Sheikh, son of Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh of Sheikh Colony Hawal Nowhatta have been arrested.
During interrogation, several stolen items including one Motorcycle (Discovery) DL6SAR/ 4913 colour black, two Mobile phones (VIVO), two Mobile phones (REDMI), one Mobile Phone (MI), two Mobile phones (OPPO), one Mobile phone (GIONEE), one Mobile phone (SAMSUNG), one Mobile phone (ITEL), one Mobile phone (JIO), one Wrist Watch (TITAN) and one Gas Cylinder (HP) were recovered from their possession.
Accordingly the above said stolen items were seized under section 102 CrPC. Moreover, the above said vehicle Maruti Car numbered JK05B -2105 also stands recovered from the said persons.
The investigation of the instant case is going on and more recoveries are expected, police said.
