Court convicts erring driver for rash driving

Poonch, Oct 18: A local court has convicted an erring driver for rash driving.
The accused driver had become the source of the death of a pedestrian in 2014 in Surankote Poonch for which he was booked by police station Surankote under sections 279 and 304A of Ranbir Penal Code.
The court of Sub Judge Surankote while accepting the evidence of the prosecution convicted the accused Rehmatullah son of Said Muhammad of Dabbar Nowshera area of Rajouri under sections 279 and 304-A of RPC.
“The accused is convicted and sentenced to undergo simple imprisonment of six months for the offense under section 279 RPC. As regards the offense under section 304-A RPC, the accused shall undergo simple imprisonment for two years and pay a fine of Rs.5000. All the sentences imposed hereby, are to run concurrently,” the court maintained.
The court further added that in default of payment of the fine the accused shall undergo simple imprisonment of four weeks in addition to the punishment described already. (KNT)
