The untimely and unannounced move of scrapping the government decision with regard to providing additional quota of ration to the consumers in Kashmir has brought the people in a tight spot as what they term as insufficient quota is all set to push them to the wall. Despite removing the bogus ration card holders in Kashmir, it was expected that the people would now be able to get adequate ration quota for every month, but the situation has reached the extent when the people have raised concerns, claiming that just 3 to 5 kgs of ration is being provided to them and also the additional quota scheme has also been put to an end. It is not possible for any family to meet the demand of ration with such a less allotment, but unfortunately there has been no stance of the government in this regard, which would have ensured some sort of relief to the people. The decision to do away with the additional ration would certainly leave them to lurch at large as the consumers would be forced to get the ration from the market where they would be charged exorbitantly than the government recognized fair price shops. Keeping in view the demand of rice in Kashmir, the government should immediately find some ways and means to bring some respite to the consumers here so that they would get adequate ration from the ration depots and could heave a sigh of relief.
