Anantnag, Nov 1: Residents of Sethar area of Sangam in Anantnag have demanded up gradation of 100 KVA electric transformer installed in the area.
The residents said that existing electric transformers often develop faults causing hardships to people in cold weather.
They said that since the last several years they have been taking up the issue with the concerned officials to no avail.
Saleem Ahmad, a local resident said due to the heavy load on the existing transformer, it develops snags frequently.
He said that during the one month the transformer got damaged three times and locals, especially the students, had to face a tough time.
Another local said that there are around dozens of households besides 40 factories which are getting supply from the existing transformer.
He said that the transformer was installed around a decade ago but since then the number of households dependent on it has increased manifold.
The locals demanded that the government to look into the matter at the earliest and upgrade the existing transformer to 250 KVA.
They demanded personal intervention of Chief Engineer PDD and concerned Executive Engineer in this regard.
