Ganderbal, Nov 18: The lack of transport facilities in Tulmulla tehsil of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district is giving a tough time to the people of the village and its adjacent areas.
The people here complain that the administration has ignored the district’s tehsil headquarters in which the Central University of Kashmir and other important government offices are located.
“Despite being known as a village of saints and housing the renowned temple of Mata Kheer Bhawani and Ziyarat Hazrat Mir Baba Hyder (RA), and also being one of largest villages of district Ganderbal, there is no proper transport facility which is unfortunate and shameful,” a local youth, Aijaz Khan said.
He said a good public transport facility is the lifeline of any area but the situation in Tullamulla is “appalling”. “The government has taken no step(s) to improve transport facilities in the village,” he said.
The locals said they have to walk several kilometers to catch a bus. “We have to wait for hours in Tulmulla to reach Ganderbal, especially on holidays and Sundays,” said a woman.
She said students are the worst hit due to the lack of public transport. “Not everybody can afford hiring auto-rickshaws,” she added.
Other areas including Sehpora, Wakura, Kurag, Safapora and Sumbal also demand transport facilities via Tulmulla. They have urged the district administration to take steps in this regard at the earliest.
