PCC Forests conducts extensive tour of Kupwara, interacts with VPPCs

Kupwara, Nov 23: Principal Chief Conservator Forests (PCC) and Director, Department of Social Forestry, Roshan Jaggi, Wednesday conducted an extensive tour of the Social Forestry Division Kupwara.
During the tour, the Director inspected plantation sites of the Social Forestry Division Kupwara.
He inspected Co/79M (Magalpora) and interacted with various panchayat members and Village Panchayat Plantation Committees (VPPC) also.
Meanwhile a mega Plantation drive by Social Forestry Division Kupwara. After inaugurating the winter plantation, PCC Forests also participated in the environmental awareness programme held with the school children of various schools.
On the occasion, he also advised the staff to meet the needs of local people by way of planting more fodder plants. He advised the staff to take fire prevention measures in advance so that survival of the plantations is ensured.
During the interaction with VPPCs including Sarpanches, Panches and PRI members, Jaggi appealed to the farmers to take up the agroforestry and farm forestry practices especially in fallow lands to enhance their income. He briefed the gathering about new rules of the Social Forestry Department.
Regional Director Social Forestry, Kashmir, Mehraj Ud Din Malik , DFO Social Forestry Kupwara Dr Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, DDC Kralpora Adv Masrat farooq along with the Range Officer Kupwara Sajid Qazi, Range Officer Handwara Aijaz Ah Mir and other staff members accompanied the Director during the visit. At the end of the drive certificates were distributed to Van Mitras (Forest Volunteers) and some tool kits were also distributed to employees.
