Keep Kashmir’s fruit lifeline moving

Remembering Hazrat Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom (RA)

In Kashmir, the government has been claiming high and tall about preventing road accidents, but when it comes to the ground reality, the situation is quite contrary even to the major and necessary measures that need to be taken on priority to reduce the number of fatalities. There is no road where the mandatory signs have been installed while the majority of the roads also san the zero crossing and other related things. The road signs are imperative for preventing the road accidents, but the absence of such facilities is indicating the non-seriousness of the administration in curbing and controlling the road accidents. The primary purpose of traffic signs is to help prevent accidents and protect people on the road, it is critical that they be prominently displayed to command attention and placed in such a way that drivers have enough time to respond to the command given by each sign. From speed limits to directions on where and when to turn, traffic signs provide a wealth of information. The traffic signs help to keep everyone on the road safe by reducing the chances of drivers colliding with other vehicles, pedestrians, or cyclists. However, in absence of such pivotal signs, the claims being made by the government are being questioned by the people as it is a clear indication that there has been no seriousness in preventing the road accidents as well as saving the precious lives. There is a need to come up with the traffic signs everywhere to ensure the motive is achieved.
