Kulgam woman earns her living from Tree Nursery

‘Don't sit idle make beginning to earn your livelihood’

Kulgam, Dec 5: At a time when many people are struggling to earn their livings, Shameema Banoo, (45), from South Kashmir’s Kulgam district has managed to sustain her income by running a tree nursery where there are various varieties that fetches her Rs 6 lakh annually.
Shameema, a resident of Nowpora, Akhran in this southern district of Kulgam, said that she has been associated with this business for the last several years and is earning a handsome annual income. “I have almost all kinds of tree varieties available at the nursery and with each passing year, new varieties are being added which are directly increasing my earning”, she beamed. “This business remains at its peak in winter months and this year as usual, the sale of different varieties of apple trees and other trees have already begun. My business is going nice and thanks to Almighty.”
Shameema said that she has been managing herself and her husband has been supportive. “We are earning around Rs 6 lakh annually and have been managing their family affairs and education of children on this business only,” she said.
In a message Shameema said: “I am not highly educated. I have studied upto class 10 and earned my livelihood very well. My message to all educated women folk will be to don’t sit idle at home but make the beginning of any business and you will be able to earn your livelihood very well.”
