Ignored roads

The busiest road in the commercial hub Lal Chowk is witnessing a frequent traffic mess for the last couple of days as the major portion of the road has been dug by the authorities to carry out a developmental project in the area. The road, which is already congested and even the footpaths remain occupied by the street vendors, is giving tough time to the commuters as well as the pedestrians here. The people from all walks have expressed their resentment against the concerned authorities for carrying out the work without any proper mechanism in place. The ongoing simultaneous works going on in the commercial hub have also caused sufferings to the traders. The traders believe that before going for a massive developmental work within the busiest market, they were not taken on board, which would have lessened the sufferings of the people and would have given enough time to the traders to take some measures that would have ensured complete cooperation to the administration. There are people, who also question the timeliness of the works being done as Kashmir is presently gripped in cold as the mercury at maximum stations have plummeted below the freezing point. Although the City Mayor has made it clear that the concerned executing agency has been directed to minimize the inconvenience being faced by the general public, it is hoped that the government will come up with an immediate solution so that the hardships being faced by the commuters, pedestrians, traders and others would come to an immediate end.
