The Kashmir Valley has witnessed a tourism boom for the first time in the last several decades, bringing smiles on the faces of the tourism players. The hoteliers are among the several tourism players, who expect a good winter season in the Valley for which the government has claimed to have taken steps to ensure better facilities to the tourists. The administration is also planning to keep a health resort—Sonamarg open for the tourists this winter to give a further boost to the tourism sector in this season as well. However, the boost to the tourism sector cannot be ensured without the absence of basic facilities like water, roads and electricity. It is a fact that Kashmir has always been witnessing interrupted power supply during winters, leaving people to suffer. But, in case the worst power situation continues and the roads remain blocked during inclement weather conditions, the tourists would be forced to face hardships and thus can play a spoilsport in the efforts regarding boosting tourism. Therefore, the administration has a huge responsibility to play in ensuring better facilities to the tourists, who visit Kashmir during winters. On priority, the uninterrupted electricity has to be ensured at the tourist places during winters. Also, the men and machinery have to be kept in a ready mode to ensure immediate clearance of the roads, so that no tourist is stuck and forced to face hardships. With better facilities, the target to give a further boost to the tourism sector can be achieved easily, but any hardships would certainly affect the season.
