Kulgam, Dec 8: In response to the demands put by the people of Kulgam during the recently concluded ‘My Town My Pride 2.0’ programme, the Kulgam administration on Thursday ordered the operation of public transport from three locations/stands to avoid traffic jams in the town.
The District Magistrate Kulgam issued an order, saying “a decision was taken to operate two existing Bus Addas viz Larro Bus Adda and Truck terminal Chawalgam”.
The DM also announced the creation of parking slots at Clock Tower Kulgam and the Shopian bus stand.
The people during various Block Diwas meetings and this week’s ‘My Town My Pride’ programme raised the issue of traffic jams in Kulgam town.
As per the order, vehicles for Anantnag, Qaimoh, Yaripora, Qazigund and Mir Bazar will be available at Laroo Adda, while the transport for Shopian, Nehama, Pariwan, Arreh, Mohammanpora, Sangus, Katrasoo and Sehpora will be available at Truck Terminal Chawalgam.
Similarly, as per the order, the vehicles for Pahloo, Laisoo, Malwan, Guddar and Banimullah will be available at the stand near Government Polytechnic College Kulgam.
The Shuttle Service (Intra Town Service) from Laroo Adda to Chawalgam and District Hospital Kulgam shall be made operational for public convenience, the order states, adding that the Sumo stand near Clock Tower Kulgam and Bus Stand Shopian shall strictly be spared for parking.
As per the communiqué by DM, the Additional District Magistrate, Kulgam (Additional Deputy Commissioner) shall oversee the implementation of the order.
