Despite the fact that Jammu and Kashmir is already facing dearth of the doctors, the administration has yet again permitted the winter vacations to the medicos, who are posted at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura as the authorities have come up with a circular, announcing winter vacations for the faculty members. One fails to understand the need and necessity to announce winter vacations for the faculty members at the government institute where the flow of the patients remain always high. However, the J&K is already witnessing dearth of the doctors, but it is seemingly getting overshadowed as the concerned authorities don’t bother to look into the matter rather enjoy the service as per their will. There are many people who have so far raised the queries over the practice. Such happening has to come to an immediate end as the people are already facing hardships due to the lack of adequate number of doctors and paramedical staff in the hospitals all across the Union Territory. It is the time when the administration has to play its role and ensure that the winter vacations are put to an end, which would help in ensuring better healthcare at the hospitals, for which the government is taking a series of measures. As healthcare is the top priority of the government, the administration has to find all the means and ways to improve the conditions of the hospitals and take every possible step for the wellbeing of the people.
