Kashmir’s new journey: From separatism, terrorism to peace, participation, progress

The administration seems to have swung into action against the government officials, who have failed to obey the rules and regulations. The district administration Srinagar has finally ordered withholding of salaries of all 162 employees, who have been reportedly found unauthorizedly absent or reporting late at the office. Such a step is imperative at a time when the people have been complaining that their visits to the offices are not bearing any fruit as most of the times, the officials don’t remain present or visit the offices late. However, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar in an appreciable move has taken a step towards ensuring punctuality in government offices by inspecting various departments yesterday where on spot action has been taken and an order about withholding the salary of 162 employees was issued as well. Such decisions are appreciated by the people, who want the government to act tough against the officials, who are not obeying the set rules and thus simultaneously push the general public to the wall. The Deputy Commissioners from other districts should also take a cue to act against the unauthorized absence and late office reporting for the wellbeing of the people. It is the time when the measures need to be taken in the right direction so that the non-serious employees are taken to the task. The government must ensure punctuality in the government offices so that the people could heave a sigh of relief and forcing people to visit the offices multiple times would come to an immediate end.
