Srinagar, Dec 14: Locals from ‘Shah Colony’ in Bemina Srinagar Wednesday staged a protest against Power Development Department for failing to install a transformer that according to them got damaged three days ago.
Locals said that the area is reeling under darkness and despite repeated appeals, no heed is being paid much to their discomfiture.
“We are the people who cast vote during every election and still the inhabitants of this Colony are being deprived of every facility,” a couple of residents told news agency Kashmir News Trust.
They demanded the installation of 400 KVA transformer as according to them 250KVA transformer is not feasible for the area with a large number of households.
The locals also said that the wires connected to electric poles are damaged ones and these need to be replaced.
They appealed to authorities to look into the matter. [KNT]
