Srinagar, Dec 14: National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that his party would not take law into their hands but will fight legally and constitutionally to get Jammu and Kashmir’s identity back.
Addressing Party workers in Pahalgam, Ashmuqam and Seer area in Anantnag, the former chief minister said that Supreme Court has taken cognizance of the plea challenging abrogation of Article 370 and they will fight it legally so as to get identity back.
He said that the claims of the BJP government are a hoax on the ground and they instead of bringing more and more areas on tourism maps are just trying to evict local people who got hotels, land and other things on lease so as to accommodate non-locals.
“Instead of evicting such people who have been earning livelihood for decades, they should work to bring more areas on tourism map, build infrastructure there so as to accommodate other people,” he said.
“The BJP’s politics is based on deceit and lies like they claimed one crore and 20 lakh tourists visited here but it was only because they included pilgrims of Amarnath and Mata Vaishno Devi in the list whose number is about one crore and have nothing to do with tourism,” Abdullah added.
Reacting to criticism of Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Lone on his announcement that his party will repeal PSA if voted to power, he said that he has already announced that he would not contest elections in UT but J&K won’t remain UT forever and it will get statehood back. “We will repeal the PSA which I have been telling since the last four years,” he added.
He said that his party is ready for elections but they are not going to beg for it but BJP hasn’t courage to fight.
