Pattan, Dec 14: A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) after it was detected by joint forces at Pattan area of Baramulla district in North Kashmir, officials said here on Wednesday stating timely recovery of IED averted the major tragedy.
Officials said that a Joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police along with Army’s 29 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF’s 45 BN detected an IED on Srinagar-Baramulla national highway at Pattan near PDD office.
Shortly after the detection of the IED, traffic was halted and the movement of people was restricted, they said. Adding that a Bomb Disposal Squad was rushed to spot and destroyed the IED without causing any harm.
“The timely recovery of the IED thwarted an untoward incident and has scuttled the nefarious plans of militants to derail peace and harmony”, they added.
Meanwhile, a case under the relevant sections of law in this regard has been registered in Police Pattan and investigation has been set into motion, officials further added. (KNO)
