The congestion in the interiors of city areas are not only giving tough times to the people while plying as commuters, but the grave issue being faced by the dwellers are being witnessed at a time when any eventuality takes place in these area. In yesterday’s incident of fire that broke out in Gadood Bagh area, the fire tenders faced tremendous hardships while dousing the flames as the congested roads in the interior locality affected the procedure badly and gave tough time to the firemen. The situation could have been easily tackled, had the roads in the area been widened in the past ten years. Despite witnessing a massive blaze in the past as well, the administration has failed to carry out the mandatory widening process in the area, which is under consideration for the last over ten years now. It was decided to demolish several houses on one side of the interior road, but unfortunately, no concrete steps have been taken so far to ensure that the decision is implemented in letter and spirit, thus continuing to give tough times to the people every then and now, especially at a time when any tragedy takes place. It is imperative to take steps for implementing the decision on the ground at earliest, so that the local dwellers could heave a sigh of relief. The concerned department should formulate a plan in his regard and ensure that the road is widened well on time.
